Product Details

A rare and interesting addition to our collection of luxury clocks, this double-signed ‘Ados’ travel clock, by Jaeger-LeCoultre shares its legacy with Astrua Torino. Bearing signatures of both the Swiss manufacturer and the Italian retailer on the salmon dial, and combined with the patinated rose gold-plated case, it exposes an intriguing legacy.

Transporting you back to the early days of international travel, this stylish travel clock was designed and made by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the 1940s and sold by the Astrua 1860 boutique in Turin – hence the double-signature. These double-signatures represent partnerships between manufacturer and retailer - which, at the time, helped watch brands extend their global reach - are now highly sought-after by collectors.

Furthermore, the stamping suggests that this travel clock was originally a present from a family business of engineers, a lovely custom in Italy at the time; thus arguably making this a triple-singed piece.

The ‘Ados’ is a foldable, rectangular clock which sits neatly in its case while on the move, opening out to stand and display the time once you have reached your destination. This example is crafted from plated rose gold which has developed a beautiful patina with age, and is wrapped in textured burgundy leather with ‘Ing.Voglino & C.’ and ‘Omaggio’ engraved on the back.

The copper dial is double-signed by Jaeger-LeCoultre and Astrua Torino, and is complemented by luminour numerals which aged to a warm orange tone, cathedral-style hands and a rose gold alarm hand.

The clock is manually wound, which can be operated through the crown at six o’clock, and has an eight-day mechanical movement, as indicated by the ‘8’ icon on the dial. The alarm can be set with twelve-minute increments, also through the crown at six o’clock.

Presented in the original, Jaeger-LeCoultre signed vintage box, with the stamps corresponding to the case’s, this neat clock combines the allure of a classic design with the added desirability of the double-signature. Simple to use and update whatever time zone you find yourself in, this once trusted travelling companion can now make a stunning addition to your work desk or nightstand.

If sold within the United Kingdom, this Jaeger-LeCoultre travel clock will be subject to 20% VAT.
